This event will feature Christopher T. Smith\, PE\, a distinguished engineering leader with over 39 years of experience with the Corps. His presentation\, “An Overview of the US Army Corps of Engineers and Mission in the Southeast\,” will explore the Corps’ extensive history\, mission\, and impact across the region. \nThe evening will include a complimentary dessert for attending military veterans\, courtesy of GSPE\, as a token of appreciation for their service. Beyond its role in military construction\, the Corps is pivotal in waterway management\, flood control\, disaster response\, and environmental regulation. \nChristopher Smith brings a wealth of experience in both civil and military engineering projects\, having overseen critical water resource and ecosystem restoration initiatives and managing all engineering and construction activities for the South Atlantic Division. His insights will provide engineers\, aspiring PEs\, and students with a comprehensive view of the Corps’ contributions to public welfare and regional infrastructure. \nThis free event is open to registered professional engineers\, aspiring engineers\, engineering students\, and any member of the public interested in engineering and technology. Attendees are encouraged to engage in this unique learning opportunity and celebrate the service and contributions of military engineers. \nArchived presentations are available for later viewing on the GSPE YouTube channel\, www.youtube.com/GSPEng.
