December 13 – Earthquake Engineering, Structural Dynamics and more

The Cobb Chapter of GSPE will meet on Wednesday, December 13 at 6:30 PM on the southern campus of  KSU  in  Room Q221.  The social hour starts at 6:30 PM with the presentation to start at 7 PM,  the best place to park is in the Parking Deck just outside Building Q.

Engineers, Scientists, Students, and GSPE Members:

Our December meeting will be presented by Professor Metin Oguzmert from KSU. Dr. Oguzmert is presently an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering. He will be presenting on several unique cases of strengthening steel and concrete structures.

Dr. Oguzmert holds a Ph.D. from Syracuse University in Structural Engineering as well as a M. Sc in Structural Engineering from Istanbul Techinical University and a B. Sc in Civil Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.

Dr. Oguzmert has extensive research experience in topics such as: Earthquake Engineering, Structural Dynamics, Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Structures, Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of Structures, Buckling Restrained Braced Frames, Performance-based Seismic Design, Structural Health Monitoring, and Finite Element Modeling of Structural Connections. He has contributed chapters to books in Structural Analysis and wrote numerous articles for journals and conferences.

Food and drinks will be provided by Dean Ferguson so please RSVP by December 11. Dinner and networking will start at 6:30 PM with the presentation by Dr. Oguzmert starting promptly at 7 PM. Our meeting will be in Room Q221 on the southern Campus of KSU in the Engineering and Technology building Q. You can park in the parking deck adjacent to Building Q.
