Crowds, Event Safety & The State of Georgia’s Safety Fire Division
State Fire Marshal Landolt will give an overview of 6 functional areas of the Georgia Fire Marshal’s office and present on the overhauling of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, recent changes to the Rules and Regulations and Fire Codes as well as discuss the challenges of large event “crowd control”. He will share how his career has shaped his approach and vision for leading the office into the future and the recent changes and modernization efforts. Mr. Landolt will explain how state law (Title 25) identifies the agencies with jurisdiction over design, construction and code enforcement and the application of the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Georgia Minimum Fire Safety Standard 120-3-3. The discussion will include proposed changes to the Rules and Regulations as well as some that are commonly overlooked. Lastly Fire Marshal Landolt will share his own experiences of 21 years in the City of Savannah in the Fire Marshal’s Office dealing the very large crowds at Savannah Saint Patrick’s Festivals. He will talk about what he has seen and learned about crowd control and share the views of other professionals, additional proposed codes, and recent efforts to ensure safe events all across Georgia.
