Investigations Without the Missteps, Pitfalls & Consequences

September 8, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Georgia Society of Professional Engineers – Atlanta Metro Chapter invites you to our September meeting featuring J. Larry Stine, Esq., Sr. Principal at Wimberly, Lawson, Steckel, Schneider & Stine.

Larry will present “Investigations Without the Missteps, Pitfalls & Consequences,” a practical look at how improper investigations can lead to costly mistakes, career-altering liability, and risks to public welfare. Drawing from his extensive legal experience, Larry will highlight the kinds of missteps engineers must avoid and provide strategies for conducting sound investigations that protect both engineers and the public.

What to Expect:

  • Real-world examples of investigative pitfalls and their consequences

  • Guidance on avoiding common biases and errors in engineering investigations

  • Insights into the engineer’s responsibility to safeguard health, safety, and welfare

Whether you’re a licensed PE, aspiring engineer, student, or simply interested in how engineering practice intersects with risk and responsibility, this session offers valuable lessons you can apply in your professional work.

J. Larry Stine is a Senior Principal and former Region IV Counsel for OSHA. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in OSHA, wage and hour laws, and co-authors leading texts on compliance and practice.
