March 13 – Strengthening Steel and Concrete Structures [Cobb]

Our March meeting will be presented by Professor Metin Oguzmert from KSU. Dr. Oguzmert is presently an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering. If you were fortunate enough to attend the December meeting he presented on a seismic strengthening of a high-rise building. He will now be presenting on several unique cases of strengthening steel and concrete structures that he wasn’t able to cover in his December presentation.

Dr. Oguzmert holds a Ph.D. from Syracuse University in Structural Engineering as well as a M. Sc in Structural Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and a B. Sc in Civil Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.

Dr. Oguzmert has extensive research experience in topics such as: Earthquake Engineering, Structural Dynamics, Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Structures, Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of Structures, Buckling Restrained Braced Frames, Performance-based Seismic Design, Structural Health Monitoring, and Finite Element Modeling of Structural Connections. He has contributed chapters to books in Structural Analysis and wrote numerous articles for journals and conferences.

Our meeting will be in Room Q315 on the southern Campus of KSU in the Engineering and Technology building Q. You can park in the parking deck adjacent to Building Q.
