Featured Speaker:
Dr. Robert Kirkman, PhD
Associate Professor, Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter School of Public Policy, Georgia Tech
Join GSPE for our October dinner meeting and a thought-provoking presentation by Dr. Robert Kirkman on Decoding Professional Ethics. With wit and insight, Dr. Kirkman challenges common assumptions about ethics in engineering practice, including the notion that ethics can be boiled down to a decision-making algorithm.
Attendees will explore how ethics truly operates in engineering—not only through codes and laws, but through deeper reflection, imagination, and attention to the real-world consequences of design and decision-making.
This free, in-person gathering is open to licensed engineers, aspiring PEs, engineering students, policymakers, and members of the public interested in how engineering intersects with public welfare, safety, and trust.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Robert Kirkman teaches engineering and environmental ethics at Georgia Tech and is the author of Skeptical Environmentalism and The Ethics of Metropolitan Growth. Learn more about his work at ethicsafield.com.
